a smitten undertaker’s diary excerpt

Seokyung Alfinda, Philippines

work the graveyard shift with me
i want to see your bones
your skeletons in the closet
and your coffins in the dirt
with ever smiling lips
burn your cyphers into my skin
uncover the entrance of your hidden crypt
any ghosts that come forth, i will not tear asunder
i want to know you
so your accolades and eulogies i can write on my heart.

Seokyung (she/they) is a Filipine-Korean student currently working through her education amidst the lockdowns. She’s been writing since she was thirteen, but only now is she branching out into trying to get her work published. Besides writing, she enjoys cooking, foraging, and seed bombing empty grass lots with native plants and pollinators.
