The beautiful mirage

Anushka Mishra, India

The beautiful mirage of fleeting life,
dawdling desire and violent strife.
for you were no Homer's poetry
thriving in lilac verses and God's fray,
but the Pagans prayer,
that got lost and washed away
somewhere in disarray
of this biased history.

the metal taste of obscene war
yet afresh in your tongue,
and sirens howling from afar
in your heart they still clung.

their Gorgon eyes
in sordid and lethal incense
that dug stones into your soul.
heart and thighs
swallowed you whole,
in their pungent presence.

shut this nagging noise
don't let them rejoice,
look past this venomous charm
the trembling sheet of synthetic calm.
recall the shadows
that slithered from behind
whispering declaration of love
in your morose mind,
also came garbed
in sapphic dove.

by giving you the world
they exiled you from home.
the shape of their savage sword
until today, in your heart roams
and has now taken a new abode-
-your seethed and sullen skin-,
growing it's maddening syndrome.

barbed wires of anxiety
always in peripheral vision
lurking in cunning cruelty.
prune them down,
wear their shards of lost envy
as your violet crown.

be the distorted
incarnation of me
uninhibited and free
as brave as I may, never will be.

stop the heavens
and it's blue rush
stop them soon
cease the sun and the moon
and everything but us.

stop honoring the past
that reeks of rue;
for darling-
the pleasures of present
are silently escaping you.

chase the future
glowing from distance
like a lantern house
humming in Fluorescence
and an eerie pace.

sit with stars on the raised dais
Look long into the night,
perfume this heart with olive delight.
Burn all your sorrow and horrors
In the flames of blazing pyre.
Cloak yourself under the
sky serenading chorals
and let the wind flourish you
with their cheerful choirs.
