Ease of Being

Erica Galera, Philippines

Negative space explores the absence and emptiness in all its forms, which often tell a story on their own. It is the supporting composition of the main focus, creating a sense of balance and rhythm. It emphasizes boundaries, and the importance of negative spaces goes way beyond art. The simplicity and mundanity of life create a space where we can truly be ourselves and appreciate the in-between. This is what makes negative space valuable. It allows us to dig deeper and sit with ourselves. To embrace and fill the void with courage and compassion, make room for personal growth and improvement.
