Paroxysm

Aania Rehman, Pakistan

The piece titled "Paroxysm" is a photo I took during the creation of my painting called "An Ode to Childhood." Observing the emergence of the pink merging in this particular way struck me, filling me with a burst of emotions. A series of past events played in my mind, leaving me overwhelmed. This moment triggered a chain of thoughts and nostalgia, and all I could do was continue watching as the color merged with the white. This photograph captures the unpredictable moment in life when we are confronted with an outburst of buried or forgotten feelings—those we left behind or simply moved past. Consequently, it leaves us in a state of paroxysm.

Artist Bio: As a self-taught abstract artist, I've forged a deep connection between my art and emotions. My visually compelling paintings are an accumulation of experiences, feelings, and moments, expressed through watery effects, color blending, and intricate textures. They evoke diverse emotions, embodying my instinctive urge for expressive creation.
